Synopsis: In G.I. Joe: Retaliation, a semi-reboot/sequel to the 2009 film G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, director Jon Chu pairs returning characters Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and Duke (Channing Tatum) with a batch of new heroes Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki), Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), as well as the villainous, Firefly (Ray Stevenson) in a “gritty” action-adventure film. After a deadly terrorist attack leaves U.S. defenses scattered and outnumbered, the ragtag group of remaining Joes seek the assistance of original “Real American Hero,” Joe Colton (Bruce Willis), in order to strike back at Cobra and the group’s leader, the ruthless Cobra Commander.

After the G.I. Joes are framed as traitors by Zartan, who is still impersonating the President of the United States, the Cobra Commander now has all the world leaders under Cobra's control, with their advanced warheads aimed at innocent populaces around the world. Outnumbered and out gunned, the Joes form a plan with the original G.I. Joe General Joseph Colton to overthrow the Cobra Commander and his allies Zartan, Storm Shadow and Firefly.
G.I. Joe Retaliation isn't a perfect action movie and probably won't replace the spots reserved for Die Hard or Terminator 2: Judgement Day
on your movie favorites list. It has the occasional slow scene and
head-scratching jumps, like how the deserted Joes made it from the
Middle East back to the United States without military support, but
those moments become quickly forgettable once the next action sequence
kicks off.
What G.I. Joe Retaliation does provide is roughly two hours
of explosive action based around a well crafted storyline with some
humor thrown in for good measure.
